SONG OF THE DAY FOR OCTOBER 09, 2011: 'SO WHAT'(LIVE) BY MINISTRY

Ministry was definitely the industrial band of the late 1980s and early 1990s. They were far better than Nine Inch Nails and were light years ahead of Marilyn Manson in every way possible. For some reason, and I don't know why, Ministry has been at times overlooked as a great metal band. Songs like 'Stigmata', 'N.W.O.', 'Burning Inside' and 'So What' were sonic assaults that were to be played at maximum volume. The band's leader, Al Jourgensen, has always been involved with great musical projects like The Revolting Cocks and I think he's one of the best front-men in rock.

If you were to start with a Ministry album then I recommend their 1990 live album In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up. This album is an absolute masterpiece because it features their "hits" and the album ends with a version of "Stigmata" that will offend. If you need a pick-me-up and you get that from some loud rock music then crank this bad boy to the max. I have listened to many live albums and few (if any) come close to the greatness of this Ministry classic.
